Technical Forum and Exhibition with international companies
Biosolutions International Congress, scheduled for Thursday, 10 September at 9.30am, and entitled: “What’s New in the Fight Against the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug? Supply Chains Meet the Biocontrol Industry.
The international spotlight will be on biostimulants and biocontrol at Macfrut Digital, the first digital trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector to be held from 8 to 10 September 2020. The event, organised by Cesena Fiera, will feature a special Exhibition dedicated to all products of natural origin for biocontrol, biostimulation and bionutrition (which, together, are referred to as “biosolutions”: as we all know, each group has different rules for registration), as well as a live-streamed Technical Forum, the Biosolutions International Congress, scheduled for Thursday, 10 September at 9.30am, and entitled: “What’s New in the Fight Against the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug? Supply Chains Meet the Biocontrol Industry.” It will be the second International Congress focusing on these products, following the one hosted in the 2019 edition of Macfrut, and it will be attended by international entrepreneurs and specialists who will share their experiences in applying biosolutions to fight the brown marmorated stink bug, one of the worst threats to our fruit and vegetable industry.
Speakers will include Mauro Gavioli, who will talk about the “Fight Against the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug on Pear Trees in Emilia”, Elisa Marchetti of Agri2000Net (“Products with Control Activities on Eggs and Young Neanids: Laboratory Experiences”), Luca Casoli, Director of the Phytosanitary Consortium of Modena (“First Results of the Biological Pest Control Project with the Use of Trissolcus japonicus Against Stink Bugs”), and Vittorio Veronelli, Vice President of IBMA Italia (“The Commitment of the Bioprotection Industry to Protect Crops”). Case histories concerning the fight against the brown marmorated stink bug in the USA, Romagna and in the EU will also be presented.
Participation in the Forum is free of charge after registering on macfrutdigital.com
In recent years, biostimulants and biocontrol have become increasingly topical issues. The fact that consumers are demanding increasingly environmentally friendly agricultural products has prompted the European Commission to prepare the Farm To Fork policy document. The entire agricultural industry has been called upon by the European Commission to make major changes by 2030 in order to reduce the use of synthetic chemicals for plant protection. In the next few decades, “bio-protection” and “biostimulation” products will play a key role and fruit and vegetable supply chains will need to adapt themselves to ensure production continuity and adequate remuneration for farmers. These products are labelled as “organic”, which means that they have low or zero environmental impact, but they are also difficult to manage and apply. The entire industry is investing substantial resources and experimenting with and studying innovative “organic” products, but we are only at the dawn of a new agricultural revolution.
Therefore, the fruit and vegetable supply chains that will participate in Macfrut will get together with the biosolution industry in an international meeting to share results, innovations and unresolved issues with a view to giving consumers what they demand, namely “organic” agricultural production.
