Cesena Fiera is extremely satisfied with Macfrut Digital, an innovative project with great business and communication potential, which has been recognised by the fruit and vegetable industry. In addition to large exporting companies, which mainly export apples and kiwis, many small and medium-sized companies in the sector seeking to expand their business have joined the project at a very affordable price (€1,000 for the basic unit).
‘Now that Macfrut Digital is just a month and a half away, we can say that we are very pleased with the sector’s response,’ explained Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut. ‘The fact that all the players in the industry and companies of different sizes will participate in the event proves that a dynamic approach is sometimes more important than volumes.’
Italian large-scale retailers will play a prominent role, thanks also to the partnership with the Think Fresh event organised by Agroter, which will be held the day before the Digital trade fair, on 7 September. Buyers who have registered on the platform will have preferential access to the trade fair as well as the opportunity to schedule B2B meetings with exhibitors in advance. Among the participating large-scale retailers, Coop Italia will also be present as an exhibitor.
‘We joined Macfrut Digital to bring a cohesive message to the industry – explained Claudio Mazzini, Head of Freschissimi Coop Italia – and to help create opportunities for gathering and discussion. Last but not least, we will be there to support Macfrut. The organisers were brave enough to embark on this new journey, which comes at a time when many trade fairs and events have been postponed.’
Many foreign participants, one of Macfrut’s strengths over the years, are also expected. Numerous collective stands from Africa, including Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda, have been registered over the last few days. Not to mention stands from South America (Chile) and Central America (Costa Rica), and from Asia, in particular China, Uzbekistan and Indonesia. The latter country will participate for the first time with two leading tropical fruit exporters. There will also be many participants from Europe and the rest of the world.
